Be a Doll

Dress - Antropologie | Sweater - J.Crew | Bag - Chanel | Shoes - Manolo Blahnik | Watch - Kate Spade | Earrings - Majorica | Sunglasses - Stella McCartney

Felicity was another of my favorite American Girl Dolls. She lived in Williamsburg, Virginia during the American revolution. She came from a fairly wealthy family, and had a beautiful horse as her pet. As a child, her life seemed pretty fabulous to me (obviously I chose to ignore the fact that she was growing up in a time of war). On a family trip to Williamsburg as a child, I brought Felicity along with me (because I was only allowed to bring one doll on all trips). We donned matching outfits and my mom even had matching hats made for us while we were there. The above outfit is my interpretation of what Felicity would wear if she lived in modern times and were in her 20's.

Outfit Envy

Shoes - Sperry | Sweater - St. James | Chambray Shirt - Old Navy | Shorts - Marni | Bag - Lilly Pulitzer | Sunglasses - Rayban | Hat - LandsEnd | Knot Bracelet - MysticKnotwork | Colored Bracelets - Noir Jewelry | Lip Balm - Shisheido | Sunscreen - Philosophy | Mineral Spray - Evian

Spring is nearly upon us, and here in the South it already feels like shorts and sandals weather. When the temperatures spike, all I want to do is spend time on or by the water. The outfit I put together above would be perfect for a relaxed day on a boat on a beautiful spring afternoon.

Awesome Art

Villareal portrait by Christopher Sturman courtesy Architectural Digest | Amanecer by Leo Villareal courtesy Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art | Chasing Rainbows by Leo Villareal courtesy my iPone | Stars by Leo Villareal courtesy Artnet |

Today I took a trip to the Jepson Center here in Savannah because one of my students' work was on display. I was a bit early, so I poked my head into the Leo Villareal exhibit. I was really just trying to kill time and wasn't planning on staying long. Plus, the warning on the door about flashing lights and the danger of seizures made me a bit nervous about what I was in store for. However, when I entered, I was mesmerized by how serene and calming these captivating light installations were. I sat in front of his piece, "Stars" in complete awe for nearly fifteen minutes, and likely would have stayed longer if it weren't for some pesky children who came running into the gallery screaming and squeaking their sneakers across the floor. Villareal combines the use of LED lights with advanced, custom made computer software that causes his pieces to pulse, tessellate or flow in beautiful rhythmic patterns. The installations lit up the gallery in a way that made it feel like I had discovered a mysterious secret place. Let me tell you, this artist and this exhibition should not be a secret to anyone because I am telling you right now that you should check it out ASAP if you haven't already.

Vintage Inspiration

"May I Take Your Order?" | by H. Armstrong Roberts

I hope y'all have something fabulous planned for this weekend. Here in Savannah it is a beautiful night, perfect for cruising around with the top down.

Be a Doll

Dress - Anthropologie | Scarf - Anthropologie | Shoes - Elizabeth and James | Bag - Anthropologie | Bracelets - Free People | Necklace - Forever21 | Earrings - Forever21 | Doll - American Girl

My childhood obsession with American Girl Dolls has never really gone away. There is something about those dolls that strike a chord with me. Kirsten was my first doll and arguably my favorite (mostly because she is blonde like me). The above outfit is a re-imagination of Kirsten's signature look with a modern, adult twist. I can't help but let my love of American Girl Dolls influence me, as it was such a huge part of my childhood memories.

Outfit Envy

Blazer - Urban Outfitters | Pants - J.Crew | Shoes - Kate Spade | Shirt - Gap  | Bag - Badgley Mischka | Sunglasses - Rayban | Nail polish - Essie | Necklace - Kenneth Jay Lane | Notebooks - Letter Lubell

This spring seems to be the season of color. There are so many wonderful garments out there to spruce up any wardrobe. Persimmon pants with a fuchsia top is a look that is receiving a lot of hype lately, and I  have to admit I cannot resist it myself! I am coveting this entire outfit to brighten up the office this spring. I already purchased the blazer and just have to get my hands on those pants.
